Computing Approximate Diagnoses By Using Approximate Entailment

چکیده
The most widely accepted models of diagnostic reasoning are all phrased in terms of the logical consequence relations. In work in recent years, Schaerf and Cadoli have proposed e cient approximations of the classical consequence relation. The central idea of this paper is to parameterise the notion of diagnosis over di erent approximations of the consequence relation. This yields a number of di erent approximations of classical notions of diagnosis. We derive results about the relation between approximate and classical notions of diagnosis. Our results are attractive for a number of reasons. We obtain more exible notions of diagnosis, which can be adjusted to particular situations. Furthermore, we obtain e cient anytime algorithms for computing both approximate and classical diagnoses.

Nowadays, the portable multimedia electronic devices, which employ signal-processing modules, require power aware structures more than ever. For the applications associating with human senses, approximate arithmetic circuits can be considered to improve performance and power efficiency. On the other hand, scaling has led to some limitations in performance of nanoscale circuits. According...
متن کاملExact and approximate solutions of fuzzy LR linear systems: New algorithms using a least squares model and the ABS approach
We present a methodology for characterization and an approach for computing the solutions of fuzzy linear systems with LR fuzzy variables. As solutions, notions of exact and approximate solutions are considered. We transform the fuzzy linear system into a corresponding linear crisp system and a constrained least squares problem. If the corresponding crisp system is incompatible, then the fuzzy ...
متن کاملAnytime Diagnostic Reasoning using Approximate Boolean Constraint Propagation
In contrast with classical reasoning, where a solution is either correct or incorrect, approximate reasoning tries to compute solutions which are close to the ideal solution, without necessarily being perfect. Such approximate reasoning can be used to exchange solution quality for computation time, known as anytime reasoning. In this paper we study approximate versions of diagnostic reasoning. ...
متن کاملApproximate Solution of Fuzzy Fractional Differential Equations
In this paper we propose a method for computing approximations of solution of fuzzy fractional differential equations using fuzzy variational iteration method. Defining a fuzzy fractional derivative, we verify the utility of the method through two illustrative examples.
متن کاملLogics for approximate and strong entailments
We consider two kinds of similarity-based reasoning and formalise them in a logical setting. In one case, we are led by the principle that conclusions can be drawn even if they are only approximately correct. This leads to a graded approximate entailment, which is weaker than classical entailment. In the other case, we follow the principle that conclusions must remain correct even if the assump...
